Blogging is a lot of hard work, but did you know your hard work can get you paid? There are lots of ways that you can make money off of your blog, some easier than others. Here are ways that you can make money off of your blog!
One of the easiest ways to make money off of your blog is by using affiliate links! These don’t cost your reader anything extra. You get some commission for every product that is purchased through your link! Amazon affiliates is a great site for beginners. You may find that businesses you purchase from already have an affiliates scheme! For example, I purchased my domain & hosting from Lyrical Hosting. I realised they have an affiliates scheme which I signed up to. Now, if you use my code LoveEm10, you will get 10% off of your purchase, and I will make some commission!
Affiliate links are a great way to make some money off of promoting products that you live. The great thing about them is that you can add them to any blog post you like, so long that it flows and fits in well. Amazon affiliates let you earn a commission off of everything, and I am sure you can fit some product links in somewhere. Make sure you only use relevant links, and it doesn’t become spammy. Your readers trust you to promote good products, not have a link on every line!
A lot of bloggers will use sponsored posts as a source of income. Businesses will pay bloggers to write a post, and, pay them to promote their business within it. Sponsored posts can make you a lot of money. With a sponsored post, you will usually write about a topic close to the brand you’re promoting, and include them somewhere in the post. Typically, a sponsored post will range from getting you £20 all the way up to £350! It varies depending on the size of your following and the brand you’re working with. I have a whole post on what PRs look for when choosing who to work with on these posts.
The 2 types of advertisements that can make you some money are ads from 3rd party sites or you creating ad space yourself. There are lots of 3rd party sites like Adsense, Mediavine, Media Net etc. Each one has its own requirements based off of page views. Some you may need 10,000 page views for while the bigger sites require 25,000. Making your own ad space can also be helpful as you charge your own price. Every month, I offer 5 bloggers an affordable advertising package which includes the promotion of their blog and social media accounts. This is a good way to make money on your blog as you can choose what you’re willing to offer, and it allows you to meet some amazing bloggers too!
Another way you can make money off of your blog is by offering services linked to your blog. Are you good at designing media kits? Can you write a killer blog post? Are you good with face to face consultations? There are lots of services you can offer other bloggers and charge a premium for it. I have seen people offering to make resumes, offering social media coaching and blog consolations! There are lots of different services you can offer. You can make a lot off of services if you offer the right niche! This is where you can use your skills to your advantage.
If you aren’t for teaching someone or making something to order, selling a product could be a great way to make money for your blog! You can sell a range of different products, including:
There are lots of products you can sell from your blog or on sites like Gumroad. It is a great way to work with other bloggers, share your skills and make some money off of things you enjoy creating. Ebooks are also a great thing to offer other bloggers to sell for a commission. It will broaden your reach!
If you have a service to offer, you could teach it as an exclusive course or make a site that others can work through and track progress! There are lots of courses that you can teach, including Pinterest, blog traffic, and Twitter courses. Some bloggers choose to run their courses one-on-one, but you could do a weekly group session or have pre-recorded videos that users can work through at their own pace. Teaching a course is a little bit like offering a service, but this is usually more educational. If you’re looking to teach a course, you need to make sure you know what you’re doing & how you want to teach it. There are lots of courses out there, so you want to make yours stand out from the crowd!
There is a little trick when it comes to product review that not every blogger knows. Product reviews don’t always have to be gifted! See if you can get the brand you’re collaborating with to also pay you some commission for reviewing and promoting the product. This is a good way of making some money for your blog, especially when the item isn’t worth your time otherwise. This type of money-making tip won’t always happen as some companies have to work on a gifting basis. It is worth asking, especially when the value of the item isn’t worth the times without and additional payment. For bloggers, gifted posts are a great way to start, and for trying out new things. It doesn’t, however, pay the bills, as sponsored posts do. Make sure you’re getting your worth when it comes to collaborations!
Well, there were 7 ways you can monetise your blog without doing too much work. Some of these ideas will require more effort than others, but this will pay off when you reach payment! Make sure you charge fairly for whatever you’re selling. It can be easy to undercharge, especially for a sponsored post or service, but know your worth! Success also takes time, so don’t be disheartened if you don’t make money instantly or within your first month!
